training centre

With our business entrenched in the mining industry we felt the effects of the Australian skilled labour shortage along with our clients. Identifying critical areas of need we made a decision to establish a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) to develop, train and qualify tomorrow’s Black Coal workforce.

Commencing in 2004, we today offer a variety of training services including:
  • Apprenticeship and traineeship employment.
  • Accredited qualifications and short courses.
  • Consultancy.
  • Training package design and implementation.
  • Skills assessment and needs analysis.
  • Third party workplace assessing.
Specialising in the delivery of nationally accredited certifications in Surface Coal Mining Operations, Underground Coal Operations and Coal Preparation; we are also working on the launch of a mine preparation program designed to increase the immediate availability of ‘pit ready’ operators.

In order to ensure the success of our services we work closely with our NSW and QLD clients to develop high quality, effective vocational education and training programs which provide new starters with competencies relevant to their site. This ensures a structured, audited and practical education.

Our RTO division is registered by relevant NSW and QLD governing bodies, with all courses complying with the requirements of the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF).

Our apprenticeship and traineeship employment services are not restricted by age or gender, with those interested in commencing a career and those looking to re-enter the workforce encouraged to apply. Throughout the duration of the program trainees learn to safely perform tasks and competently operate mining machinery relevant to the qualification. Assessment involves observation, questioning, checking of relevant documentation and demonstration.

The depth of experience of our Training, Assessing and Consulting team is outstanding, with all staff working their way from the coal face and coupling this experience with tertiary education. To meet legislative requirements, each Assessor holds current Certificate IV in Training and Assessment certification as a minimum.
